Q: Where is the Design Lab located on UC San Diego campus?

A: The Design Lab is located on the University of California San Diego campus in La Jolla, CA in Warren College, Atkinson Hall building, 1601. Due to limited parking space on campus, we advise using a ride-sharing service or public transportation. See Google Map


Q: How do I become a graduate student with the Design Lab?

A: In order to be a graduate student with the Design Lab, you must first apply to be accepted to a UC San Diego graduate program (there currently is not a Design graduate degree offered by UC San Diego). If you are accepted, you will need to identify a Design Lab faculty member as your graduate advisor. You can find faculty contact information on the People in the Lab page.


Q: May I just stop by the Design Lab to get a tour?

A: The Design Lab does not offer tours to the public or students. Tour requests need to be sent and approved by the Faculty or Staff member the individual is meeting and we request all tours be scheduled in advance due to prior commitments.


Q: How do I partner with the Design Lab on research project or become a member of the Collaborative?

Q: Does the Design Lab offer Design Training and Workshops?

A. The Design Lab does offer Human-Centered Design Thinking non-credited training and workshops to UC San Diego students, external students, and industry professionals. Please go to the Events > Workshops webpage for a list of scheduled trainings.  The Design Lab does not offer credited courses or night classes.
