Tanzeem Choudhury (Cornell University)

Tanzeem Choudhury is an associate professor in Information Science at Cornell University and directs the People-Aware Computing group. She received her PhD from the Media Laboratory at MIT and BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Rochester. Tanzeem was awarded the MIT Technology Review TR35 award in 2008, NSF CAREER award and TED Fellowship in 2009.<!–directs the People-Aware Computing group at Cornell University, where she is an Associate Professor of Information Science. The People-Aware Computing group works on developing machine learning techniques for systems that can reason about human activities, interactions, and social networks in everyday environments. Choudhury received her Ph.D. degree from the Media Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As part of her doctoral work, Choudhury created the sociometer and conducted the first experiment that uses mobile sensors to model social networks, which led to a new field of research referred to as Reality Mining. Choudhury holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester, and M.S. from the MIT Media Lab.
