Abstract:

The #1 Factor in great design is STRATEGY! Without it, design is a commodity

The story behind my presentation is twofold and intertwined. It is first and foremost how I integrated strategy into all the individual product designs that I have worked on over the years, and at the same time about how I used this larger strategic thinking in the creation and development of my companies. With this strategic philosophy at the forefront, I built GadShaananDesign to be the largest product development firm in Canada at the time. This strategic foundation has also been the basis for both GadLight, my second firm which represents the culmination of 35 years of strategic work, and YofiMeter, my third firm and a start-up that represents the power of strategic design thinking on all levels.

In essence I will be talking about my career as a strategic consultant, how it happened, and what I learned over the years. I will show product examples going back 35 years and up to today, including a case study; YofiMeter.
