Preparing the Public for Automation

The San Diego Regional Proving Ground (RPG) and the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) invite you to the next RPG Consortium meeting:

Wednesday, June 20, 2018 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Qualcomm Institute at the University of California, San Diego

The RPG partners are leading development of California’s strategy for autonomous vehicle (AV) outreach and education. Join us to learn about recent market research about the public’s perceptions of AVs, and provide input on the public outreach and education strategy. A representative from the California Department of Motor Vehicles will discuss new state regulations for AV testing and deployment, and representatives from state and local law enforcement agencies will discuss their expectations for the Law Enforcement Interaction Plan now required in California. Our sponsors, the UC San Diego Contextual Robotics Institute and The Design Lab, will provide live demonstrations and presentations of their latest research related to AVs and the human machine interface. View the draft agenda for more details.

Background

In January 2017, the U.S. Department of Transportation designated the San Diego region as one of ten proving grounds in the nation. The RPG Consortium provides a forum for informing public policy and forming strategic partnerships that accelerate deployment of AVs. For more information visit, sandag.org/provingground. If you have any questions, please contact Colin Santulli (619) 595-5390 or colin.santulli@sandag.org.

In partnership with SANDAG, Caltrans, and the City of Chula Vista.
