Agencies of Art and Audience

Art is often elusive in pinning down is specific meanings and intentions. While its lack of utilitarian function can be vexing for some views, it gives works of art resonance and lasting impact in considerations of the human condition. New methods of creating cultural experiences that are dynamic and dependent on user interaction, along with contemporary understanding of human cognition and behavior, are providing for new approaches to creating art in which the nature of artistic experience can be directly acted upon. I’ll show you some ways in which I and the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination are exploring these ideas.
